Retro fashion is absolutely red hot this summer, and women all over the United States – in the rest of the world, for that matter – are trying to dig up as many vintage pieces as humanly possible to hit the beach and boardwalk in.
The only problem with those vintage pieces (if they are authentic) is that they do not take advantage of everything we have learned about textiles and new advanced fabrics over the last 50 years or so. Many of these beautiful summer dresses are incredibly hot (especially when things get humid), and while they look fantastic and they just can’t compete with today’s new pieces.
Thankfully though, designers like the folks at Wink Gal have been absolutely knocking it out of the park when it comes to combining modern technical fabrics with floral patterns from the past in a picture-perfect kind of way. This particular kimono style dress is absolutely stunning, and you are going to fall in love with it almost immediately!
Vintage style stolen from the 60s and 70s
The very first thing you’ll notice about this dress is that it wouldn’t look at all out of place in a magazine or advertisement from the 1960s or the 1970s.
That quintessential “hippie look” that so many people are after today, everything about this dress screams vintage flair in a way that will stay very hip and trendy while also paying homage to the past.
The floral look is really something special, but the cut and fit of this dress is also vintage with a bit of a modern twist. It’s not exactly tight or formfitting by any stretch of the imagination, but it isn’t loose and billowy, either.
You won’t have to worry about getting lost in all that fabric, that’s for sure!
Modern synthetic fabrics keeps you feeling nice and cool even when the temperature rises
The best aspect of this beautiful Maxi dress is that you are going to be able to stay nice and cool when the summer sun is hottest thanks in large part to the 100% polyester material used throughout.
This 100% polyester weave is designed specifically to keep you feeling great even when temperatures outside are pretty hot and humid, just the same as advanced technical materials found in modern sports apparel do.
Sizing can be a little bit off
The only real knock against this particular dress is that the sizing can get a little bit sideways, with some people complaining that the sizes run small whereas others complain that the sizes run large.
The best way to get your hands on a dress that is when you fit right out of the box is to order your “normal” size, and if it doesn’t fit quite as well as you had hoped to return and exchange it for one that will fit a bit better.
There are certainly a lot of vintage inspired dresses available on the market today, but none of them blend retro style with modern fabric quite as nicely as this one does. The cut is fantastic (especially if you Gillett with your sizing), and you’ll find yourself wearing this dress a lot more often than just to the beach!
